General Audio Guide: Frederiksborg – Castle and Museum
The museum’s audio guide takes you on a journey through the castle and, with it, through Danish history. This guide is available in Danish, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, and Ukrainian.
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes without pauses.
Please note that the museum’s collection of 20th- and 21st-century art is not included in the audio guide. When visiting the third floor, we recommend switching to the Room Guide.
Please note: Some artworks may be on loan to other museums. In such cases, the audio guide may not correspond exactly to what is on display.
Room Guide
The Room Guide introduces and describes the castle’s rooms and halls in Danish and English.
Room numbers are displayed above the doorways throughout the museum. If you are standing in a room with the number 30 above the door, you are already in Room 30—not about to enter it.
Children’s Guide
The Children’s Guide takes young visitors around the castle and presents Danish history at a child-friendly level. It allows children and accompanying adults to explore Frederiksborg together.
The guide may be played without headphones.
Special Exhibitions
Some special exhibitions have accompanying audio guides. Please see the selection available in Smartify.
The museum brochure provides an introduction to the Museum of National History and its special attractions.
You can use the Floor Plan as a mini-guide and map for your tour of the Museum. In the Floor Plan the room numbers refer to the numbers located above the doors to each room. The number refers to the room you are standing in. You will always be handed a copy of the Floor Plan when you purchase a ticket.
