A staging of the Christmas Plates in Frederiksborg's Great Hall
To mark the 250th anniversary of the Royal Danish Porcelain Manufactory, Frederiksborg presents a sensory installation, where Royal Copenhagen’s Christmas plates – from 1908 to the present day – are staged in a setting in the Great Hall. The installation is created by award-winning set designer Julian Toldam Julin, renowned for his productions at, among others, the Royal Danish Theatre.
Bring your friends and family and be enchanted by a this display in the heart of the castle. Over 118 plates, cherished by generations, await you in Frederiksborg’s Great Hall.
In addition to the large collection of Christmas plates, you can also see sketches and preparatory works for this year’s plate, which has a very special connection to Frederiksborg.
Frederiksborg has been featured on the Christmas plate three times: in 1953, 2022, and 2025.
This year’s plate from Royal Copenhagen naturally marks the 250th anniversary of the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory and depicts a bust of Queen Dowager Juliane Marie, one of the factory’s founders in 1775.
Next to her bust on the windowsill stands the very first annual plate from 1908, and through the window you can glimpse the church tower of Frederiksborg Castle — the place where Juliane Marie married Frederick V in 1752.
