The Pantry – Your Gateway to Nature and History
Frederiksborg is located at the entrance to the National Park of the Kings’ North Zealand and forms an important part of the history of North Zealand’s royal hunting landscape. Just beyond the castle, gardens, forest paths, and historic landscapes invite visitors to explore the nature and culture surrounding Frederiksborg. Nearby, you will find the Parforce Hunting Landscape in North Zealand, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Located in the historic Fadebur Wing just outside the main castle, The Pantry is the perfect first stop on your journey. Here, you can get your bearings, take a break, and find inspiration for experiences in the area – from maps and walking routes to activities for children and families.
Coffee To Go
Whether you are visiting the museum, taking a stroll around the castle grounds, exploring the area as a tourist, or cycling through North Zealand, you are welcome to stop by The Pantry. Rabarbergaarden Slottet provides coffee and a selection of takeaway treats to enjoy as you continue into the castle gardens and the national park.
Fadeburet opens for the first time on 13 June. It will be open every weekend and daily throughout the Danish school summer holidays (weeks 27–32), from 10 am to 5 pm.
The Pantry: Past and Present
The building is one of the oldest buildings within the castle grounds, dating from around 1580. Over the centuries, it has served many purposes, including storage for the castle’s tableware, textiles, and household items – a function that gave the building its name.
The Pantry is a collaboration between Frederiksborg Museum of National History, Hillerød Municipality, National Park of the Kings’ North Zealand, and Rabarbergaarden Slottet. Through changing activities and inspiration for local experiences, The Pantry will offer visitors a welcoming introduction to the area. It also serves as one of the official gateways from Hillerød into the National Park of the Kings’ North Zealand.
